The one hundredth and twelfth mix in the series comes from Chicago’s Ariel Zetina. With a sound routed in techno she takes inspiration from Chicago House, Belizean Punta, Brukdown and the queer club scene worldwide. Part of the extended Discwoman family, she is a resident at the legendary Chicago house club Smartbar, where she runs Diamond Formation, one of her many club nights across the city (Rosebud, Ariel’s Party, Rumors). She is a playwright and poet, and is currently working on a commission for The House Theatre of Chicago and a score for her play Pink Milk for an upcoming Baltimore production.

The one hundred and eleventh mix in the series comes from Klein Zage, one half of The Orphan label and radio station. The New York resident is set to release her debut EP “Womahood” this March. A self declared swift explosion of pepper spray house and feminine energy, Klein Zage sites tracks “Womanhood” as a nihilistic declaration of menstruation, “Absolutely” a UKG masterclass in orgasm and “She’s Out There” as a self-help book made by the patriarchal system. Yasha is 28 year old Joe Gillick, the South London born, Seattle resident and founding member of Orphan Radio along their recently conceived record label. Arriving in the Pacific Northwest, Joe found a burgeoning warehouse techno scene alive and well in Seattle. This would come to inform his debut record release. In an effort to unite Seattle’s somewhat splintered music community, Orphan radio was born. Inspired by their local London outlets like NTS and Balamii. GM Guest mix number one hundred and six comes from South London’s Coby Sey, a frequent collaborator with Mica Levi and Tirzah, Sey walks a fine line between experimental and club sounds and is one of the most exciting UK talents pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a producer in 2018, realising an urge to twist the templates of hip hop, soul, jazz and ambient music into something more personal, dreamlike, and relevant to him and his peers.

Guest mix number 105 comes from Chicago’s Jana Rush. By the time she was 13 she had started producing, and before she turned 18, she had already released a split 12” with ghetto house DJ Deeon and a solo record called Wicked. She counted Paul Johnson as a mentor and DJ Rashad as one of her peers. “Pariah”, Rush’s recently released debut LP, arrives over 20 years since her first release, and in that time she’s been a firefighter, a CAT scan technician, and a chemical engineer at an oil refinery. Rush is known for her unique take on footwork and continues to explore the the many tangents, influences and aesthetics of Chicago’s rich dance music heritage.
